About Us
Specialist Access & Rescue Products Ltd was founded in 2003 by Dave & Dorene Allport, after Bacou-Dalloz (formally Troll Safety Equipment) closed the Troll factory in Saddleworth, UK, moving production to various overseas locations.
Dave had worked for over 22 years as a Technical Specialist for Rope Access and Rescue. As well as designing equipment and developing techniques, he was responsible for establishing the Troll Training School, travelling the UK and abroad to teach clients including Fire & Rescue Services, Police, Military, and private organisations.
Although Dave & Dorene are now retired, the ethos of the business continues, with their children, Lee and Carol, taking over the reins.
SAR Products is still proudly based in Oldham, just outside Manchester, in the foothills of the Pennines. We pride ourselves on manufacturing products that excel in all aspects, offering superior performance, reliability and usability, by being made in the UK.
Our market knowledge and experience allows us to focus on what the customer needs, meaning that we can continue to offer excellent products that are backed up with exemplary customer service.

With a heritage rooted in innovative design, our team strives to draw on that experience, developing equipment that performs when it counts. Manufacturing in the United Kingdom allows us to produce high quality, no compromise items made by skilled machinists, using the best raw materials available.
Products are tested and certified in line with the latest European & British Standards, alongside our own stringent manufacturing criteria and quality control. All products are subject to batch checking and / or testing by our in-house test facility. Each individual item is subject to inspection prior to packing and shipping.
Our commitment to quality management, indicated by our ISO 9001:2015 certification, is reinforced by external audits to assure that policies and procedures are robust.
